Hate to say it, but I find that the majority of these tear down houses are lived by people that are the types you just described. The living conditions in these homes are so poor that it only attracts those type of people. Anytime I see a tear down replaced with a new home, this will just be better for the neighbourhood as a whole.

Anytime I see a tear down replaced with a new home, this will just be better for the neighbourhood as a whole.
Probably true, but its kind of sad to see those bungalows which were the fixer-upper starter homes now priced out of being reno-worthy. That listing makes an interesting contrast with this one in the same neighbourhood:

buyers with that kind of money want their own home - not someone else's renovation. That means either a new build or a complete gutting on the old home

just an FYI
I can't believe where sub 2Million inventory is now.
We should be above 500 units now for East Vancouver at this point.
We're sitting at just 340 units

The buyer got a good deal. If he can split the land into 2, he'll have two 30.5 x 125 lots. So he paid about $750k just for the land assuming the house is a teardown.

hmmmm....had a look at a few houses on the street on Google. Looks like mainly fairly new duplexes. Cannot see that lot being subdivided into two single family lots. But let's keep an eye on it and see what goes in there. :D
