Facts and more facts... that you didn't want to hear.

"B.C. Liberals' promise to not leave debt for our kids is 'misleading'

Great-grandchildren will be paying B.C.'s debts until at least 2094...

B.C.'s overall "high debt burden" and BC Hydro's growing liabilities prompted a warning of a possible downgrade by Moody's credit analysts in January.

"The anticipated increase in debt continues to pressure the province's rating, since it raises the contingent liability of British Columbia," said the report, which ultimately upheld the provinces AAA rating.

That rating affects how many tax dollars go to servicing the debt.

B.C.'s debt-to-GDP ratio, which measures the province's ability to pay its debts, is expected to stay relatively constant at 16 per cent, which is better than most provinces, according to a Royal Bank analysis..."

Back on topic, something to ponder. It's your money.

"Site C dam project has become 'uneconomic' and should be suspended: UBC report

Analysis says project is no longer going to benefit the provincial economy as once expected

A new report is calling for the suspension of B.C.'s Site C dam project, saying it's no longer going to benefit the provincial economy as once expected and that power from the hydroelectric station will likely be exported at losses of up to $1 billion...

First, experts found that alternative options for generating electricity — such as wind power and energy conservation — have become cheaper..."

Good debate. Horgan and Weaver started off nervous and had difficulty getting nasty. Clearly, the nice guys.

IMO, Weaver was credible, but the Greens won't split the vote. The question is whether Weaver is gonna take votes from Christy.

Typical Liberal lies...

"FACT CHECK

Did the NDP really spark a 'decade of decline' as Liberals claim?

Two economic experts 'fact check' B.C. Liberal attack ad and find the message is being massaged...

Stats Can figures, cited in the Liberal ad and checked by the CBC, show the first of the B.C. Liberal claims are partly correct — that job growth slumped during a portion of the 90's when the NDP were in government and unemployment numbers climbed. But the rate of unemployment was also high under the Liberals after they took power.

Unemployment peaked at 10.1% in 1992, the year after the NDP took power — but dropped to 7.7% by the time the party was ousted from office in 2001.

Then, under the B.C. Liberals, unemployment climbed to 8.5% in 2002 shortly after the 9-11 crisis — dropped in half a couple of years later — but climbed to 7.7% in 2008 following the world economic downturn.

Our experts say internal B.C. policies have less impact on our economy, than outside forces..."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Ferry_Scandal

The primary factor for the project failure was the overall cost of building three fast ferries was substantially more than advertised on the outset of the project in 1994 when it was projected to cost 210 million.

" The press called the BC Auditor General Morfitt's comments perhaps the most damning report the BC Auditor General's office has ever issued. "

The provincial government at the time, led by New Democratic Party (NDP) premier Glen Clark, decided to use provincial Crown corporation BC Ferries to advance its economic goal of supporting British Columbia's shipbuilding industry by creating a fleet of custom-designed high-speed catamaran passenger/vehicle ferries for BC Ferries.

I guess its one way to completely crash BC's housing market, job market, and bankrupt the province.
