Re: BC Immigration Plunges, Home Sales/Prices Down

I don't get why people think BC is desirable it isn't. It is only Vancouver that is desirable and some areas more than others. Really? I guess those license plates that should read "Vancouver - Best Place on Earth" and the new slogan should be "Beautiful Vancouver" instead of "Beautiful British Col...

Re: RET Meet - Week of August 7th?

For the enquiring minds, the meet was a success...... had a few fisticuffs but managed to tone it down before the police showed up. Too bad more of you frequent posters couldn't have made it out....... especially the chilled out ones [and those who post the same dogmatic sh*t each day..... always f...

Re: Van Special

You build a new home for 350K A minor reno is <50K A major reno like this one likely in the 80-100K range. If you can't do major reno like this for under 100K then you're an amateur - and this work doesn't look like it's done by amateurs You can build a home for $100,000 or $10,000,000. Maybe they ...

Re: Van Special

I like how all the renovation experts can tell how much a reno cost without stepping foot in the house. Its a Vancouver Special; shitty quality build to begin with. Chances are good that a tight renovation budget would go out the window the second you opened up a few walls and saw all the unexpecte...

Re: Chinese millions-and a loophole-keep luxury home market

I wonder if the developers ever got their money back. I wonder if the Developers were also jailed and executed - they were obviously part of the corruption. Or is that just how business is done over there? Only the people taking the bribes are punished, not necessarily the ones who benefit from them?

Re: Toronto surpasses Vancouver as most expensive city in Ca

Unlikely. They keep rents low so renters don't jump to the next guy. The only 'wizard pulling strings' behind rents is median wage, and that isn't going anywhere. And don't let the coat of LTB all over this place nudge perceptions, many buy homes because they see it as the best thing for their fami...

Re: Toronto surpasses Vancouver as most expensive city in Ca

this is ruling class strategy...keep non-owners convinced that renting is better than owning so there's always an adequate pool of have-nots Sounds about right. Vancouver's ruling class is keeping rents low to ensure the peasants remain complacent. But only in Vancouver - it's different there. Desp...

Re: the Everygreen Line Skytrain will have its funding annou

Yes we are for real. You're welcome to write a check to Bombardier for a few MKII vehicles for the Evergreen line that you won't use! LOL!!!! Can't - I'm too busy paying taxes for a new Bay Bridge that I'll use about 4 times a year. But, I guess the 800,000 people that will come across it (daily) t...

thus encouraging urban sprawl by people moving to Coquitlam because its so conveient to commute to downtown vancouver this is a huge waste of money. If people live out in the sticks then they should have to find their own way into the city. i hereby and solemnly declare +1 Very progressive thinking...

at best the bus running from lougheed station to coquitlam centre runs every 8 minutes, and quite often uses short buses at best the bus running from broadway station to ubc runs every 2 minutes and always uses the longest buses. now on which route does it make most sense to have a skytrain? Re: opinion about discount realtors?

[ might be some tax implications in keeping some ties to Canada. A buddy of mine left Canada many years ago and didn't want to file yearly with CRA so he cut all ties including banks, credit cards, etc. He's an accountant so he needs to do everything by the book. We've been through this before... Be...

Re: Bridge Comes to San Francisco With a Made-in-China Label

How much is roof for BC Staduim, 100 million. SD you are comparing 800 gorilla with a monkey It's a half a billion dollar project and it's in your backyard... seems a little more relevant than a bridge being built in a different country. But hey, I'm not comparing the projects anyway. I'm pointing ...

Re: Bridge Comes to San Francisco With a Made-in-China Label

When you consider the number of bridges being built in China, it's not surprising they're using the same prefab sites to build for other cities. Sounds smart to me. Oh and I doubt the plant in China is making large margins on this project, given the shipping costs. And HiSD wins Cpt. Obvious Award ...
