Re: Should the government intervene?

You are wrong here. If prices were not crazy high then a local could buy this house instead of the foreigner. And guess what ... property taxes would still be paid on this house. And the local owner with his property taxes AND incomes taxes, and GST, and PST would pay more the the foreigner would p...

Re: Should the government intervene?

NS Sherlock.   Purchasing a place to live in or lease out is right of anyone in out out of Canada and must be considered the same Non-Canadians do not have the right to vote in Canada. Foreigners do NOT have any rights under the Canadian Charter or Rights & Freedoms. They should NOT be allowed to u...

Re: Should the government intervene?

that's where people with your opinion are wrong.  The property tax paid on these homes ANNUALLY is more than all taxes most people pay in all forms for the entire year (income and sales tax). There are way too many entitled whiners out there. You are wrong here. If prices were not crazy high then a...

Re: How far can it drop? 20% or 30%?

10 to 15% = 90%
30% = 40%
50% = 5 %
60% = not a fucking hope in hell
Hey Eyes,

Percentages should add up to 100%.
You are at 135%.

Re: Should the government intervene?

That's evident. What's not clearly evident is that it's the assumption of laundered dirty money. They are just mad someone is richer and more successful than them. Sure there are criminals but there aren't criminals in canada? Canadas economy will never generate the amount of wealth of even the USA...

Re: Should the government intervene?

One thing i noticed that it's mostly caucasian people whining. there are far less east indians or asians whining about pricing. I realize I am stereotyping here. I know that not all asians & indians are bad but some are. Are you saying that: 1) All the White Canadians who are being priced out are c...

Re: Should the government intervene?

so just because a person is foreign and has just managed to scrape enough money to move their family to Canada and escaped an unfavourable country with all their savings has to pay 15% more? In this scenario the foreigner could save up a larger down payment and wait until they get PR status and sav...

Re: Poll shows complex Vancouver real estate market

Eyes,

I was being sarcastic, paraphrasing TDMA.

My personal view is these rediculously high prices are very bad for the future generation of Canadians (our children)!
I don't think foreigners should be allowed to buy Canadian homes at all!

Re: Poll shows complex Vancouver real estate market

I will try to paraphrase TDMA. Prices going up is a great thing. DO anything possible to make prices go higher!!! Foreign money is good even if it is laundered and if if the foreigners are criminals. The government should welcome this and encourage it. In fact, we should start more marketing campaig...

Re: Should the government intervene?

Does anyone actually believe these numbers? So, they are saying 95% of properties are bought by locals. No chance! Without foreign money (and lots of it) home prices would not have went up 40% last year when GDP/local incomes increased by about 2%. The bulls will say prices are up because people hav...

Re: Should the government intervene?

Hello troll, To quote you, "educated people will understand" the uncounted rental units (such as illegal basement suites) are rented out. Those units are not empty. We do have a rental unit shortage in Vancouver. You get an F (that stands for fail in canada) for your understanding of the rental situ...

Re: Poll shows complex Vancouver real estate market

I don't think the troll lives here either. He types out nonsense. He types out non-Canadian things such as when he said UNrealized (unsold) capital gains on stocks are taxed! Now he thinks 0.5% vacancy rate for rentals is a high number. Reminds me of a woman I worked with once that wa...

Re: Monthly stats for May

lol at tdma. Anyone can sell a house especially in this market. What does it take? A 6 week course that high school dropouts can easily pass. Just try to get into medical school. You need an A average. A doctor takes 8 to 12 years of university education. Who do you think should make more money? Whe...

Re: Monthly stats for May

That's what I have been saying. Even the suburbs are not affordable. Kids are expensive. Parents (even with above average paying jobs) with kids have the least amount of money after expenses left over that is available for housing and they need the largest (therefore most expensive) places. These ki...

Re: Is Vancouver housing sales beginning to slow down?

I said city of Vancouver not Greater (Metro) Vancouver. How many open houses have you been to lately? how many realtors do you know? I know several and based on what they say It's closer to 30% than 4%. A benchmark house in Vancouver is over 2 million. How many Canadians are buying these? Not many. ...
