Re: Is the boom over?

Wow, can there be any clearer sign that the boom has turned to bust than how dead this forum has become? Literally no posts for weeks, what a far cry from a couple years ago.

Re: Speculation tax ! Finally

I'll take middle class immigrant over the rich ones - they make for better neighbours and are generally not tax evaders Money laundering, tax evasion, multi-million dollar owners in welfare is like cancer to the system. I really hope David Eby and his team can clean house. You are pinning your hope...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

Remember the good ole days when you used to post multiple sales like this a day. Now grasping at straws once every couple of weeks. That kind of sale doesnt happen in a crashing market. Experienced people know that of your profession there are several reasons and obligations to accept things that a...

Re: Food for thought....

Sounds like you want a suburb within the City. Street parties are fine and dandy for the burbs. Street parties in big cities should be / are organized events. We just had Greek day along Broadway a few weeks ago... Main Street has a similar event. It's a City: a higher concentration of inhabitants....

smartest article I've read about the future of Vancouver real estate The detached house with a yard is a dinosaur. When the city rezones to allow density it'll be bye bye for this property class in most areas of Vancouver http://www.vancouversun.com/opinion/columnists/Barbara+Yaffe+Single+family+de...

Re: Ninety-five per cent of the buyers are now from China

Yep. Homeowners vote. Surprise surprise.
Not likely to if they're offshore or just mom and her brats occupying. Christy Clarke should have learned that lesson when she got kicked to the curb by the people left in Point Grey who actually vote, but she is an incredibly stupid woman.

Re: Ninety-five per cent of the buyers are now from China

Remember peeps, China has 1.5billion people... and Vancouver is perceived as a safe place to park their cash. BC only has 4.6million people, and these Chinese only love Vancouver, Richmond, West Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam. They're not really interested in living anywhere else. Probably why Vi...

Re: Red Lantern - Shannon Wall Centre?

Shannon Wall Centre builds itself up with considerable hype (Rennie marketing). In that area, not many condo or townhouses. The marketing seems geared towards overseas buyers. But would they prefer to live there rather than False Creek? http://shannonwallcentre.com/ The current phase is selling abo...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

I would be interested in hearing everyone's opinion on this property. It strikes me as another "fish nor fowl" listing. Priced to high for lot value and priced too high for the kind of person who would appreciate a cool renovated bungalow: MLS V1116766 The Iconic Mighty Oak House. The only property ...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

$1,800 per month for a two bedroom is huge dough. I could only think it would be worth that if it was very large and opened up into a beautiful garden....and came with maybe a butler . :D Rentah! get me a beer ! Rentah! its time for my bath, not too hot! Rentah! I am hungry, rustle me up some grub!...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

Hate to say it, but I find that the majority of these tear down houses are lived by people that are the types you just described. The living conditions in these homes are so poor that it only attracts those type of people. Anytime I see a tear down replaced with a new home, this will just be better...
