Re: Any owners in Whistler?

I think about it often as I have a 6 year old and we frequently drive up for the day. I would like to have a rec property there that I rent out. My concerns is about the amount of work of trying to manage a vacation rental remotely. Particularily in an expensive place like Whsitler. I would imagine ...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

I agree with Arthur, it's pretty hard to keep calm and rational when bidding on homes in a rapidly falling market. For anybody who is financially stretching to buy, it must be terrifying knowing that a lot of folks are predicting much bigger price drops in the spring when a massive influx of listin...

Re: TFSA vs. PR

I own Dundee (D.UN), as it bought the reit that I owned Whiterock WRK.UN. Whiterock had a high yield and I made a 25% gain on the buyout, so I'm holding it for now. I dont know if I would recommend it right now but I'm happy to hold if for now. The impression that I get is that canadian reits have h...

Re: TFSA vs. PR

buying a rental/investment property is a totally different game than investing in a tfsa. It's like running a small business. If you're good it's not much work, but.... And the game for income property is leverage to increase your returns. You can play realestate in your tfsa by buying reits, though...

Re: Restrict foreign ownership....Vancouver NOT Hongcouver!!

Keep it a free country. If someone speculates foreign or not - who cares. They take a risk the can reap rewards or loose it. No more restriction.
If you dont like it, quit focusing on it and do something else.

Re: Affordable Detached (>$400K) w/Vancouver Commute

...Answer this, when you're about to die are you going to wish your home was worth more than it is (and you paid more for it)? Or are you going to wish you spent more time in the mountains with your family? One things for sure, your dog will wish you were here. Your kids might end up being ski and ...

Re: Buying Whislter condo as Vacation Rental

It is a lifestyle decision for us and partly a longterm investment idea (mortgage payoff). I know that there is a lot to consider and I do not yet understand the zoning. Though I would like to break even and be able to write off my travel up there to 'manage' it and board. Multiple Offer. It the 39%...
