That theory fails miserably and we don't even need to look out of western Canada to find an example that refutes it. Also, since you...

Re: Review of Vancouver RE last ten years

"Geyser". The entire point of posting the Herengracht study was to support the well accepted notion that, over the long term, home prices generally track closely with inflation. if this were true why isn't Calgary more expensive than Vancouver? The inflation rate in that city has been much higher t...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

According to Monday's <whispersfromtheedgeoftherainforest.blogspot.ca> the value of Westside houses has been dropping by $1,000 per day - for the last seven months!!! Of course that's the Westside, I realize that at over $900k a pop the demand for run-down old homes in coveted neighborhoods like th...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

I almost bought 1/2 duplex in main area at $333/sqft - brand new heritage style...very nice. But it is not a detached property - those were every bit as tough to buy then as they are now. Would you have made more money by buying the 1/2 duplex instead of your current place? The 1/2 duplex probably ...

Re: A Tale pf Two Cities – Amsterdam & Vancouver

A Tale pf Two Cities – Amsterdam & Vancouver Many similarities. Both have rent control. In Amsterdam, 95% of rental units are rent control. Very difficult for landlords to terminate a tenant. Both have waterway impediments to traffic. Both cities are about 700k population. Both cities have seen hom...
