Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

Good to know Jimtan is now an expert on under-sea volcanoes ( a relatively uncharted science in climate change research). His range of expertise astounds. Meanwhile the folks back east have other problems. Worst sea ice in 10 years, people can't seem to function in Nfld. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/ic...

Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

New undersea volcanoes have been discovered, and there is no accurate estimate as to how many there are, or what their effect is. One volcano which has been studied in Antarctica, and does seem to be having an effect on melting of sea ice, and is frequently active, so not a one shot effect. There ar...

Last year Polar vortex, this year "Siberian Express". Record Low Temperatures going back many years from Boston to Kentucky. Boston pummelled repeatedly by snowstorms. Tell these folks it's Global Warming.

If Alberta Sneezes, will B.C. catch a Cold?

In spite of previously optimistic predicttions of just a few months ago, the housing market is "changing", some would say coming to a screetching halt. Oil prices likely to stay low for a while, interest rates can't drop much to stimulate things, sooooo..... https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/canadia...

Household debt in Canada second only to Greece? How long before this house of cards comes down? Sure, it all looked fine when oil and dollar were high.

Re: Advice for a newbie!

Since you were by your own admission a bit hasty in buying, didn't do the math first etc, please don't make the same mistake in selling too soon before costing out all the pros and cons (which it seems you are doing). If you sell, you will also have to pay real estate fees out of whatever profit you...

Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

There still has to be an alternative if the world is going to switch from oil. So far clean alternative are not cost effective for large parts of our energy needs. If you have sunshine and wind, maybe. But we are a long way from using these on a large scale. As long as oil is relatively cheap, it ma...

Re: Climate Warming is coming to BC

It's sad, and scarey that you have to be 72 years old and have well established tenure, or be retired altogether, before you can even claim to be unconvinced about Global Warming. Now they are 38% sure that 2014 was warmest by a hairsbreath. Those poor polar bears better grab their sunscreen, next y...
