Back in town for 24 hours

http://www.2shared.com/video/vSgpMYdP/Piano_3.html Hey everyone. I came back to Vancouver for 24 hours on a lay-over. Ended up at UBC and a friend wanted me to play him the piano for him. I thought while I was playing, I would record myself since there was a long going debate on if I could actually ...

Re: $220,000 Porsche Seen as ’Entry-Level’

I have some friends in China, and cars there are stupidly expensive. A friend has a 360 Modena and it was over $400,000USD for the car. In Canada, you can get a good one for about 1/4 the price. In the US, it is cheaper still. This is why a lot of people from other countries come to Canada and think...

Re: The real problem with Vancouver’s outrageous house price

Thanks for posting this. Very true. Take myself for example. I felt very content to stay and work in Vancouver if the opportunities made sense. The jobs I wanted didn't even exist in Vancouver and even if one did, it would be far less pay in a city far more expensive. There is that wage gap issue ag...

Re: How to get money inside Canada

CRA wouldn't be a worry to me. FINTRAC would be though. If you're living in a $5 million dollar home and FINTRAC finds out you're declaring $50,000 a year, they will make CRA look like a big cuddly teddy bear. I'm not saying FINTRAC is a right or wrong or that it does what it is set out to really do...

Re: Rennie busts 'unaffordable' myth

people without a high income and live with their spouse and at least one child can get a rental subsidy in any house or apartment in BC. it doesnt have to be welfare, and nor does it have to be in a Co-op or special BC Housing housing.
If you're disabled.

Re: Foreign Ownership of Metro Vancouver Real Estate

Most of the very wealthy people I know of (men) don't even start thinking about marriage or family stuff until they are getting near 40. Why? Is it because they want to party and have fun? That's part of it. The biggest part is that while most people are having fun at 20 years old, they were startin...

Re: Foreign Ownership of Metro Vancouver Real Estate

You cant' stop foreign ownership, I think thats the wrong way to go. I believe in open markets, hold your property if your worried that you won't be able to afford. If not, move to the suburbs, when you have sold your East Van home for a million and half that you bought for $80,000. Thank Goodness ...

Re: Cultural sensitivities

You will find that people blame other problems on racism because it's something that can visually be noticed. Most of the time, when someone is racist towards Asians, it's because of a specific amount of frustration on the other person's side. I'm not saying that it's right, not at all. What I am sa...

Re: Vancouver homes more expensive than New York or London

^ Thanks for posting this. I was going to post something similar. The amount of wealth in other parts of the world are so high that local persons in Canada have no clue just how much there is out there. As long as the country allows the gates to be open, it's going to cause some serious problems for...

Re: Do you Paatle?

The program is designed to be like facebook in that you have a profile where you follow real estate, connect with other people etc. It will also be for free both for buyers and sellers. If this website (ie. realestatetalks) is any indication, people involved in real-estate have zero to limited inte...

Re: Do you Paatle?

So... how do they make money? ----A friend of mine is here that may be better able to explain this---- How does facebook or any other high traffic website make money? Retail stores that have the most exposure are the most expensive to rent or purchase. Traffic, by definition, defines profits. The a...

Re: Most Vancouver condo buyers prefer a house

I like new modern condos more than Vancouver houses. Most houses are not comfortable and look not so pretty, they need a lot of work, don't have a view, are not centrally located. Living in a house is not convenient and time consuming. I actually agree with this. Most houses pretty much have no pri...

Re: Most Vancouver condo buyers prefer a house

still doesn't explain why a friend just bought a condo at $455 sqft at Fraser/30th while I paid $300 sqft for my house a few blocks away, on a quiet street, and got the remaining 4500 sqft of land thrown in for free. The majority reason for a condo choice is not lifestyle, it's price. So maybe one ...

Do you Paatle?

Went to a launch party last night regarding a new local based company called paatle. For those of you that are unaware, a couple of guys in the province decided to create a worldwide network for real estate that's free to use. Think of facebook but for real estate. Anyone in the world can use this p...
