Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

So misguided: high income people in the U.S. dont pay any medical premiums - it's covered by their employers. The best and brightest get the best benefits. I don't mean any offense, but "average" is awarded in more socialists countries like Canada. Shooting in Southern California today, killed 14 p...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

I know some "successful" people who are lumped with HMOs. And let's not forget the endless paperwork and bureaucracy set up around their healthcare. But so what? If all you (general you) care about is money and a very narrow definition of success then have at her, the US will fit your values. But I ...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

so true. LA, for instance, outside of gated ghettoes for assholes, is very run down, crumbling infrastruture, and the schools suck my friends tell me.

but mostly the very poor healthcare safety net scares me. no thanks. the US is way too dog eat dog a society for me to want to live there.

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

geyser also forgot to factor in the issues with health insurance, random mass gun crime, and public schools down there. i suspect once you factor in those costs it's a wash.

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

um, yeah, that's old news. plus the west side is slowly emptying out. where young professionals buy condos varies. I know some who have bought downtown/yaletown/olympic village. and others prefer to buy a house in the burbs or EV if they can afford it. A lot of talk about coquitlam/poco for homes too.

Re: What to do NOW?

Agree with Whip. There are always plenty of people looking to rent in good neighbourhoods closer to transit, amenities, etc. I've never had a problem finding renters. TFWs and refugees compete for the same housing as other lower income people, and competition pushes rents up. It's good for me, anywa...
