Huge Sales Surge In Vancouver By Mainland Chinese Today!!!!!

I just came from PCI's Marine Gateway project. There was a 1 kilometer line up of Mainland Chinese. I have never seen so many Mercedes, BMW's, Audi's, Bentleys, Range Rovers and Aston Martin cars in my life. These people definitely have money. Sales people tell me this project will sell out in a day. My friend with me speaks Mandarin. She could hear everyone in the line up talking about the year of the Dragon and this is the best time to buy in Vancouver. Definitely lots of excitement. If they run out of condos I can see a riot breaking out.

Take the Canada Line to this project and check out the buzz.

I TOLD YOU SO!!!! CHINESE NEW YEARS ENDED YESTERDAY AND TODAY THEY BUY.

Hopefully one of the news channels picks this up.

I doubt we will see Vanpro on this forum anymore.

There were lineups but I didn't see any Maseratis. If there were helicopters I guess I couldn't hear them over the hype.

The condo market in general is dead - their are huge discounts and/or incentives offered on all unsold projects from Olympic Village and other SE False Creek projects (James, Maynards Block, Pinnacle et....) including HST etc...to the suburbs. Just look at the Vancouver Sun homes section every Saturday...

I recall that Olympic Village first days of pre-sales were even more frantic line ups - how did that turn out? Sales were terrible resulting in receivership and min $200M loss for the City.... So Line ups don't mean success....even in the year of the dragon....

I didn`t see it but I believe it !!! I was driving into Kelowna this morning and I saw many ladies and guys boarding helicopters at the Alpine Helicopters.. They were all wearing parachutes and carrying briefcases and many were wearing Re-Max blazers so I assumed they were realtors ..Before you know it 6 loaded B 206 s lifted off and headed towards Vancouver..Just a question ,are they running out of helicopters in Vancouver??? Luv those choppers !!!

What huge discounts? olympics village and most of the development in the false creek south area was already overpriced. They just added promotions so it would be in line with market prices

My point was: Olympic Village had huge line-ups and massive hype at the opening of pre-sales. End result: sales tanked, developer went into receivership and massive loss to the city DESPITE receiver and project marketer re-pricing and offering incentives...

And there is still a massive amount of unsold condos in all of those new projects - Maynards Block, Pinnacle, Olympic Village, James, Opsal - that is just 3 blocks or so in SE False Creek w/ more supply coming on - Cressey's Meccanica etc...

Big line-ups and hype at opening of pre-sales don't mean anything - the real proof is 3-4 years down the line when the project is completed and whether they were able to sell those units and if sales close or not.

Anyone with half-a-brain knows huge lineups at pre-sale does not necessary translate into actual sales. A lot of condos in Burnaby had lineups on day 1 but currently are still trying to move their units.

It's part of the marketing. Either the developer or the marketing company created a fake lineup.
