What would you do if Clinton won?

What would you do if Clinton won?

Let's assume that Clinton doesn't win by a landslide. Means that her political capital is limited.

Will have to reconfigure her alliances. She will have to pay off her left-wing allies like Warren and Bernie. What else on her agenda? She's a weak president and hated by the right wing. TPP is dead. She doesn't have any original ideas anyway.

Democrats might have a senate majority but GOP will still have Congress. Still deadlock. Not gonna solve the nation's problems. Wait for the 2020 election. Likely to be a brutal repeat of 2016, with a Donald clone coming at her. Without the Donald's sordid baggage.

What about finances? She'll run a slightly larger budget deficit. Means that Fed will quit QE and raise rates faster. Is that good for you? Are you a saver or borrower? Are you invested in assets that are sensitive to interest rates?

Diplomatically, she will likely take a harder stance than Obama. Break out the flags. A woman commander-in-chief. Likely to be confrontational with Putin and the Chinese. The Mexicans can breath easy. Latinos are her political ally.

So many stumbling blocks down the road. Where have the fundamentals changed? Are you invested or investing in the winners of tomorrow?

The important thing to note is that savers are currently earning zero real interest rates. A real interest rate of 1% and more would take some of the steam out of the stock market, and help deflate the RE bubbles. And, make stock markets price more realistically.

You guys don't seem to appreciate how lucky borrowers have been since 2009. QE by central banks mean that long term borrowers are benefiting from historically low interest rates. When was the last time that 30-year USA mortgage rates were this low?

What about real interest rates?

Educated people don't cite America when there are  big differences , namely, almost nobody in Canada locks in their interst rate for 30 years

Here we are. Occupy Wall Street surfaces again. Expect nastiness in the States, and threat of destabilization.

Expect the anti foreign backlash to extend in Vancouver.

Clinton was the wrong person, and unsuitable successor to Obama. Confident at the end, she didn't make an concessions to the blue collar workers. They paid her back.

The consolation for the Democrats is that they are intact in the houses of Congress.

It's better to prepare for a decisive midterm victory. Than to have Clinton do a bad job, and have a disastrous midterm.

Now Donald has the hot seat. Let him scr*w everyone, and bring the GOP down. Democrats might even recruit from moderate conservatives.

The lesson that the Democrats need to learn is that Obama's coalition of 2009 can a limited lifespan. They need to build a new coalition, with the right leadership.

As I mentioned, the Democrats are within striking distance of majorities in Congress. Clinton's weakness has not diffused down the ballot list. This is not a revolution, YET.

Some silly pundits think that Trump is brilliant. He is cunning enough to work the gullible into hysteria. This is an age old technique. Employed with some short term success by Hitler etc. Will not end well.

Clinton had all the advantages, and she defeated herself. She promoted a progressive agenda because she wanted to be the first female POTUS. Trump played the economic ace. Even so, Clinton won the majority of votes cast. However, she lost Florida, Michigan and Pennsylvania by tiny margins. She could have easily flip just one percentage point of the electorate by offering concessions to the blue collar workers. The timing would have been perfect after the Third Debate when Trump's popularity was rock bottom.

And so, we sail into perilous seas. The center does not hold. A tale of human vanity and hubris.
