Non goofy people realize that in America mortgages are normally locked in for a far longer time than most in Canada

Real people know that short mortgages have to pay more when interest rates reset higher.

Here's a heads up. Here's a recounting of Stephen Harper at his worst. Same personality type as The Donald.

"Party of One: Stephen Harper And Canada's Radical Makeover

... Harris illustrates how Harper has made war on every independent source of information in Canada since coming to power.Party of One is about a man with a well-defined and growing enemies list of those not wanted on the voyage: union members, scientists, diplomats, environmentalists, First Nations peoples, and journalists..."

No surprise here...

"Trump claims he doesn't need daily intelligence briefings because he's a 'smart person'

... Trump gets about one briefing per week, while Vice President-elect Mike Pence receives them several times a week, Reuters reported Friday. Past presidents-elect have often welcomed the President's Daily Brief, a highly classified document.

Trump's reluctance to take the briefings has prompted criticism from Democrats about his knowledge of key issues. Trump claimed he will get briefings when situations change but not "the same thing every day, every morning."

IMHO the Donald is dumber than George W Bush. Remember that guy and his mushroom cloud?

Anyway, China retaliates.

The Communist government has never hesitated to stand up to foreign bullies. They will surely pay back the insults etc from the Trump administration. For that matter, Mexico and Canada will have to retaliate. Hello, Trade War  :!:

Yet right. Brilliant! Quote from a company that has seen its biz fall be half.

Meanwhile, there is a general realization that QE can't be maintained.

Means that the valuation of RE and stocks will fall as interest rates rise.

Canadians not so welcoming!

"Trump's Trade Chief Makes a Rookie Mistake

Donald Trump has chosen Peter Navarro, one of the most ardent critics of trade with China, to head his newly created National Trade Council -- a move many consider to be the opening shot in a trade war...

It’s definitely not true that trade deficits always subtract from growth. This is a common error that I see people making, so it’s important to explain why it’s wrong...

In other words, imports don’t count negatively in GDP. They amount to zero...

This is just wrong. Imagine in 2015 the U.S. had closed the $500 billion trade deficit by exporting $1 more and importing $499,999,999 less. GDP would have gone up by $1, not by $500 billion...

So it does look like Navarro is making a mistake that an econ professor like him really shouldn’t be making..."

^--- coarse language

For those that didn't already know, The recently elected US and Canadian government are from two opposite parties, and are unlikely to follow each other. move along.

Uneducated people have nothing witty to say.

Meanwhile, this update from CNBC.

"Donald Trump is serious about starting trade wars

... As much as Wall Street appears to believe this is just talk, Trump is putting his words quietly into action. Appointments to a range of lower-profile executive branch positions strongly suggest that he is likely to pursue a fairly aggressive policy of trade protectionism.

... The Trump transition team returned from its winter holidays to announce that Robert Lighthizer would serve as his United States trade representative...  Back in 2008, for example, he penned an op-ed for the New York Times making the case that John McCain should abandon his commitment to free trade. Lighthizer argued that "conservative statesmen from Alexander Hamilton to Ronald Reagan sometimes supported protectionism" and "always understood that trade policy was merely a tool for building a strong and independent country with a prosperous middle class."

... Trump is creating a structure to act. Perhaps more important than the picks themselves is the fact that Trump has set up a policymaking structure that should facilitate protectionism..."
