Introduce Yourself to the Forum

Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:13 pm

How about a forum for new people to introduce themselves?

Each new person can make a new thread and everyone who cares to, can say something welcoming.

I can see the Official Introduction Thread getting a little too 'epic', if you know what I mean...

1) Age / Location / Occupation

55, Okanagan, Semi-retired Flipper Wannabe

2) What real estate do you own?

A home in the Okanagan and another in Sicily (much nicer winters and cannoli there)

3) What's your view on the market going forward? Buyer or seller? Which parts of the market?

I see a freefall in the Okanagan market for at least two more years.

4) Anything else?

Are there any good cannoli anywhere in the Okanagan?

How's your experience? Why don't you tell some of us about the crash you had?
So jimmy said I missed the dip in Richmond last year. And now prices have fallen even more with no balance in sight! The poor old man is just too old and grumpy!

My name is Matt. I'm a Realtor in the Lower Mainland. I'm not here to look for business, but to keep my finger on the pulse of the questions/concerns the public may have.

Sorry for the late intro. I am HAM, Hot Asian Man. I come to Canada in 1996 and bought my first home in 2005 at the age of 25. I have sold my home in Jan 2012 after I saw some weakness in the market after June 2011. Now I come here to talk real estate and to share info with others. And also to smack talk with one specific member. I'm sure you all know who. If you dont, come in and find out!

1) Age / Location / Occupation

29, Burnaby, Teacher

2) What real estate do you own?

None. I'm hoping to buy in the next 2 to 3 years.

3) What's your view on the market going forward? Buyer or seller? Which parts of the market?

This market has a soft underbelly, and that's interest rates. Unfortunate for me that I will also need a mortgage since I'm just
starting my career. Looking at a condo or townhouse in North Burnaby down the road.

4) Anything else?

I rent my place now but don't want to keep handing over cheques to my landlord. It'll take me a few years of salary jumps
and strict saving before I'm able to buy.

Unfortunately, there's so many people out there that are in this exact situation, and I only see the numbers getting higher. Being able to afford a mortgage payment (because it's close to what rent is) but just can't get the savings up for a down payment, closing costs, moving costs, ect...

1) 89 going on 13/Downtown Eastside/Clam Digger
2) none
3) Dunno. My view of the market going backwards is a lot clearer than going forward.
4) The market will do what it does.
Interest rates, employment, bank loan policies, are all factors in determining price but things like
Central Bank policy, Immigration policy, may have an evern larger impact on long term prices.

Hi

I am interested in creating a set of RE charts for Canda, mostly the major cities.
I am not an investor, my view about the RE market is rather bearish and I guess that is all you need to know about me :-)

my pleasure to join you
