You're playing dumb on purpose and its annoying.

The point is, or at least part of it, that Vancouver likes to announce that its "World Class" at every opportunity it gets. If thats the case it opens the city up for comparison against other "Word Class" cities.

There is a wide array of metric to measure the value in RE that universally apply across most markets, some fundamentals differ from city to city, or World class city to World class city.

If we compare our selfs to those cities and still look ridiculous, what does it mean?

The price of health care and everything else in Malibu is relevant to the price of homes. The supply and demand for the necessities of life do not exist in a vacuum. Get your head out of the sand and stop making mythical comparisons.

Why don't you do some research on moon real estate and get back to us: http://www.moonshop.com/ms/Soldmap_E.html

Is mortgage interest still income tax deductible in California?
Wouldn't that balance things out for the cost of ownership?

Why aren't people cashing out of Vancouver en masse and moving to Malibu?

It's a little known fact that people prefer rain over sun.
George Carlin once said "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

When did Malibu become a world class city? Its a seaside suburb of LA that happens to house a lot of wealthy actors.

No - while mortgage interest is tax deductible in the US, you also pay capital gains tax on the increased value of your home. Here it is the opposite - interest is after tax dollars, but capital gains are tax free. Its probably at worst a wash over the life of a mortgage, or at best a significant advantage to Canada.

"world class" is not synonymous with "livable"
If you look at the list of the 10 most livable cities in the
world there might be one that you consider world class (Frankfurt).

ask people if they'd rather live in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo or Vancouver. So yes, Vancouver is definitely NOT world class...and I'm thankful for that
the cure for higher prices is moving to a destination with lower prices

Right, that's why so MANY super-rich celebrities and multi-billionaires choose to live in Malibu, Los Angeles vs. Vancouver....wait that completely contradicts your stellar logic!

"Blllionaire's Beach" in Malibu - auction for homes falls flat due to depressed market, even though the community of Malibu is full of super-rich:

" But the price is even more surprising; bidding for the half-acre property will start at $22 million, about a third of the original asking price three years ago."

Ah, I don't think Warren is playing dumb so I think you just insulted him.
