Mark my words .. RE will drop between now and post election

I'm putting a stake in the ground here. You will see a significant drop in RE prices (10% or more) between now and post Canada election (say 6-10 months or so).

Re: Electoral cycle is messing with monetary policy

Hard to say, but I think it's worth less than it should be as BOC is inordinately easing to make Harper look good. That being said, gold/oil is sucking wind, which is typically bad for CAD as it's a commodity based currency. After the election I imagine we'll see the currency strengthen (assuming co...

Electoral cycle is messing with monetary policy

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/bank-canada-under-fire-shift-inflation-focus-192602067--business.html You can just read between the lines, BOC Chairman was appointed to get Harper re-elected. He will do anything and everything to cut rates. As we get closer (or past) election date, rates will rise...

Great article on the Euro

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wo ... ing-right/

Good thing we never did something as brain dead as adopt USD for Canada. Being able to devalue our currency by 30% has rescued us in many ways.

Re: June Stats for Lower Mainland now up

The sales-to-active-listings ratio in June was 35.9 per cent. This is the highest that this ratio has
been in Metro Vancouver since June 2006.

Re: ruh roh: Chinese Stock Market crashing

Well, I'm not going to debate the demographics thing because you are right, we don't have the data. I will say that Mass Transit improvements will *definitely* help a lot, but alongside mass densification as well. I read some dumb thing recently where they don't want to densify along the skytrain co...

Re: Is Tsawwassen for you?

Leased land is perfectly fine if a) you get the right time value discount and b) you don't plan of settling down.

I think most people tend to underestimate that the amount of discount they should be asking for.

Re: Bulls cheer. Newbies weep. Solutions?

just talk to a realtor today, he told me buying a condo is "new normal" for newbies. He believes this is the solution, like New York or San Francisco, etc. The problem is this fundamentally justified given wages in Vancouver as compared to New York or San Francisco. Those aren't appropriate compari...

Re: Bulls cheer. Newbies weep. Solutions?

People are not unhappy about the "lifestyle". People are upset that they are being forced to move away from family and friends and are being physically divided by social class.
