Re: Speculation tax ! Finally

more writing on the wall. I was afraid that the NDP would not live up to their promises but I have to say... they delivered. It couldn't have turned out any better that they needed Green party's support to win government. Weaver will keep them in check. I'm looking forward to see if they implement ...

Re: Is the boom over?

Ideally we see a 50% reduction in values to get rid of the swarms of people that buy housing as an investment, and not a place to live. Realistically, there might be a brief and shallow pullback before another head first dive into a bull market. I would say that is wishful thinking, a 50% reduction...

Re: Is the boom over?

The day of reckoning for condos is nigh.
As soon as the BC govt closes the loophole on presale assignments it will be over.
I'm pretty sure developers will be required to disclose transfers, and each buyer/seller will be required to pay the applicable taxes, every time a unit changes hands.

Lots of potential buyers licking their lips for a 10% reduction in Vancouver real estate.
Imagine selling one of the top 3 cities in the world at a discount. You wont see a sign on my lawn

Re: Are interest rates finally going to rise?

Rates are up. Prime is now 3.45% (highest since 2009). Didn't someone say that mortgages will never reach 5%? Fact is that they are currently stress testing at the 5% mark. “Canadian Banks Hike Mortgage Rates to Start 2018 … For example, despite getting a variable rate mortgage for say 2.5%, the bo...

Re: 3 Reasons Canadian Mortgage Rates Will Never Hit 5%

I think the new mortgage qualifying rules are still higher than a 1% increase in real rates.

Won't effect offshore buyers...I'm sure they'll appreciate locals being pushed aside and take a discount on their purchase

Re: Is the boom over?

We could just squat in Pt Grey mansions that aren’t being used.  The owners wouldn’t even notice LOL Isn't there a policy that If you can squat for a year without being removed then you own the property? Let's do it!   They still have squatters rights in the UK, but it's was eliminated by law in BC...

Re: 3 Reasons Canadian Mortgage Rates Will Never Hit 5%

Data shows a robust economy, but with just a 1.3% inflation rate. The numbers don't add up...should be higher. Watch the $cdn if you want to know what the BOC will do. They won't want to knock the stuffing out of our exports. Our whole economy is tenuous. Fed fucks with in too much by tinkering with...

Re: Is the boom over?

We should all feel fortunate if boom or bust is over. A long long stretch of market stability is what we need here. The lack of housing purchase options is gutting Vancouver of its workforce. It's basically either you buy an overpriced condo that is not suitable for a family, or hope to be able to r...
