Re: OSFI - Nee Mortgage Rules

It might force people to extend their amortization period to 35 years. Uninsured mortgages are the best kind, with 20% down it shows the buyer has some sort of saving ethics. As for this slowing the market down, if I want to buy something for $700,000 and I have $140,000 in downpayment. Am I just g...

OSFI - Nee Mortgage Rules

Almost zero talk here about the one subject that can have the greatest impact on the RE market.

What does everyone think?

Cue the industry shills claiming these rules are unnecessary and will impact the economy

Re: 3 Reasons Canadian Mortgage Rates Will Never Hit 5%

My comment was a jab at ETB. Anyways - will we get to 20% again? Not in my life. But the article suggesting 5% is impossible is completely comical - then look at the source of the article. No self serving there. My guess is ETB is praying rates don’t rise because theyy are leveraged more than they w...

Re: 3 Reasons Canadian Mortgage Rates Will Never Hit 5%

Makes we wonder where the politicians were when prime lending rates hit 22.75% in 1982. There was plenty of pain when people were losing their houses back then. But of course ... “it’s different this time”. Lol! It is different this time, 30 years of fractional lending and a ever increasing money s...

Re: Are interest rates finally going to rise?

Of course, why make this clear when your goal is to be alarmist. Let's just borrow and obfuscate any negative news we can find It is clear to anybody that can read. But hey - you can read minds (since you know what someone’s goal is) yet want someone to be clear for those that can actually read wor...

Here's something alarming... "The Fed's about to try something that almost always has ended in recession" https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/02/fed-balance-sheet-reduction-almost-always-ends-in-recession.html "Fed economist: 'No evidence that QE works' as central bank starts unwinding prog...

Re: Vancouver indvidual property sales details

What frustrates me the most is that the media and real estate pundits keep telling people the market is crashing, or that the prices will drop 50%.  These poor people sit on the sidelines believing everything and get priced out of the market.  The market has slowed during the summer sure, but in de...

Re: Are interest rates finally going to rise?

Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking. A lot of people had to stretch just to get into this market.  Grey market loans are through the roof.  Those that could not afford the market 2 months ago can afford it less today and less tomorrow when rates go up.... I would hate to be stretched right now - ...

Re: Are interest rates finally going to rise?

So we have had our first rate increase and the markets are already starting to price in another one in October.  It is very possible that rates will increase 2% over the next 2 to 3 years.  I am sure everyone can afford that with no problem  8)
